[glow=blue,2,300]My mom is having some puter troubles..........unm she has "windows me" and uses a compaq........here the other day she boooted up and instead of booting up it came to a screen where she had two options......
1.) f1- to boot 2.) f10-set up
and then at the top it said something like " 1720-hard drive detects iminent failure " and about three days before this she got the message"your system is dangerously low in resourses" well i helped her turn some programs off and stuff she had dl'ed that she didn't need, but she still gets the f1 and f10 thing , (as i stated), she restored her system back to the 31st before all this happened thinking it would help but no such luck!
If anyone has any idea plz do gimme some feedback, it would greatly app. and also.........she wants to know if she runs her recovery disc if she will lose pics on the pc she has already scanned off?
ty guys and gals so much, hugs and kisses ;D [/glow]

Sounds like a program was "Deleted" not "UnInstalled" and some shared files were also deleted ... Restoring your system back will not replace needed system files that were deleted ... The comsumption of time invested to diagnosis this problem could consume days of attempts with-out any positive results ...
I would copy all photo's and personal data into folders and burn them onto CD-ROM ... If she does not have a "Burner".. she can easily transfer her files to your system VIA MSN Instant Messenger for Temp. Storage. Advise her to put in her Systems First Aid Recovery Kit / Recover and Reformat <<>> Her system will be up and running in less than two (2) hours <<>> Compare that to the days of attempting to diagnosis the problem ... ReInstall her Anti Virus and send her photos and data back to her ...
Good Luck
Sincerely CourtneyDS

Obviously some drivers were deleted.. Hence : The CD-Rom is not bootable ... Have you : Start / Run ... M:\ Have you did a Search for that perticular ROM and ReInstall the drivers ... I do not visit JJ's other Viper Forum that often.. so I could not tell you what is posted over there or not ----------------------------------------- Hi Yahoo ... Nice seeing you again Sincerely CourtneyDS

Example : My CD-R / RW = a CD-Writer Plus ... I believe my version was 3.5 and it was not burning correctly ... I basically executed a simple search of my perticular CD-ROM and downloaded the UpDate for it <<>> That installed all needed drivers along with the UpGrade to 5.0.. now it works perfect ^^ After you execute that.. Go to Windows / Temp internet files / Copy and Paste the UpDate into her "My Documents" and then burn that onto ROM for future use ... <<>> Then.. the "First Aid Recovery Kit" for a nice new clean system ;D Sincerely CourtneyDS

[glow=blue,2,300]Hi Smug,
I had that a problem before with my compaw, where the recovery disc wouldn't play with ME.
Solution phone Compaq, they will send you the diagnostics floppy and the full instal thing which is 2 CDS.
Hope that helps [/glow]

AIDA 32 is a Free Ware program that will give you pretty much any info about your system's Hardware and drivers and so forth.. It will in most cases detect the hardware and give the manufactory home page for driver support.. It's a keeper for the o'll tool box... www.freedownloadscenter.com/Reviews/r847.htmlI would also like to mention that having another small HDD installed on your mom's computer would be a good idea, she could use it just for Files that she holds dear .. or you may want to put another small partition on the HDD if only using one, she can just get in the habbit of saving files to it incase of a system crash .. This way, if windows is installed on the main primary partition [ C: ] you could blow it off anyday of the week and it wouldnt bother any of her files saved on the D: drive or what ever you name the new HDD or partition..
