I’ve talked to some people, and they have raised some good questions. Here they are.
Question 1: The new method to join a room is difficult, I like the old browse and surf method. Answer: The old browse and surf method was easier, but it was difficult to maintain to MSN changes. Browse and surf can be implemented in a different way, for example, when some browse to the room viper will automatically open the grabber and let you get the msn chat cookies. If you look at the new database for passport info, you will see a time stamp on the updated data. It can be used to check the whether the cookie info has been expired or not. This way grabber can also run in the background and automatically update the cookie info whenever it passes over 24hr time limit. I can’t give an exact date but, this is suppose to be the plan. Viper grabbing will evolve and become easier again with version *.17 or *.18.
Question 2: Too many dlls, ocx… etc… they are difficult to install. Answer: I’ll develop a setup that will check the version number and missing components, and give you the link where to download them. It should make the installation easier.

the hardest thing is there's 2 dll's, 1 for comm and 1 for chat because there's 2 diffrent ip's. Wichever dll you want to use, the ip has to match the ip in the VTS file if not people wont connect.
this is really the biggest obstackle, "problem connecting to server 2 " or "cannot authenticate ....." is usually because people mix the ip adresses up and will them take 2 days or longer to get it right and some dont have this patience and give up and prefer something that works straight away (yeah.. cant blaim them)
new dll will be just 1, both for comm and chat at the same time, JJ will build something in Viper that tells me if people want to go to a G_ room or not, accoording to that I know which ip to use before the chatscreen is loaded so the ChatHTML.txt will synchronize the ip.

grabber can also run in the background and automatically update the cookie info whenever it passes over 24hr time limit I can add the Auto update option and make it update credentials at set duration, you could set your MSN Chat .NET Passport account on auto sign-in and/or I could add the hidden "passwd" and "login" to the Url depending on if they are given. Case "update": UpdateCountDown = UpdateDuration SetCaption "updating credentials" If GetSetting("vgrabber", "options", "AccountName", "") <> "" Then UpdateURL = "https://login.passport.com/ppsecure/post.srf?id=2260&ru=" & UpdateURL & "&login=" & Trim(GetSetting("vgrabber", "options", "AccountName", "")) & "&passwd=" & Trim(GetSetting("vgrabber", "options", "AccountPass", "")) Else UpdateURL = UpdateURL End If wbr1.Navigate (UpdateURL)
set your account to auto sign in would be more msn update proof but if I use Vipers components (voWorker.ParseTags) how will I know the moment to parse the tags? meaning.. I can tell when the page is fully loaded (wich is done before you have joined a room), but I cannot tell when the ocx is actually connected (joined room, and I cant parse sooner then that) can you add something that gives me a signal when I can parse? or that would be alot of work right, a timer is not safe, not everyones connection has same speed.. or I could do it a diffrent way not using voWorker but thats sensitive to msn updates again.

JJ any plans on adding new identifiers such as ver$ for version and maybe tim$ for time hmmmmmmm maybe even something like acc!$ for identifying bans or knock messages to room even a kick ident would be handy to add host kick prot like kik$ so we could add host prots to op1 list so if there kicked the kicker get the boot just some ideas to think over regards scott

Toland, it's just normal programming concepts. It depends how much spare time you have and how much it would be beneficial to you, and also your natural talent.
Building an app like Viper needs an advance programming skills, which is not possible to get in a day. If you want to become a professional programmer; i say, go for it. If you want to take it as a hobby... in that case, it depends how much free time you have. It may take 6 months to get to an intermediate level. Not to mention, programming is not as mind refreshing hobby as gardening or keeping a pet. Some people consider it a very dry subject.
All in all, it has both good points and bad points, and you have to see which one applies to you... it's your decision, just don't make it in a hurry.
To build a good bot you have two main options:
option 1: use mirc as a chat frame, and build an mirc script. It has also good and bad points, but the learning curve is shorter.
option 2: build a chat bot from scratch a. you need to know a good programming language. VB, C, C++, Delphi, MFC (not a language, but it would do), Java, C#, VB.net, C++.net... all of these are good languages for windows bot.
b. you need to know windows API. Win32 will works for Windows version before Windows Longhorn, but Microsoft will dump it with the release of longhorn. Microsoft will adopt .Net framework as native windows API from than on. So I wouldn't recommend spending too much time on Win32 API.
There are programming concepts like OOP, extreme programming etc... the list would be all most endless, but you may or may not have to know them. It's depends on your purpose. If you just want to build a bot than they will be very time consuming. If it's just for a hobby, I think you first discuss it with your girlfriend lol.
Gatekeeper, I’ll add more stuff to viper’s simple scripting as soon as I get a chance.
Edit: I was babbling too much. Took out some parts in a hurry, and the final post wasn't making any sense. Toland, if you want a detailed answer than just ask for it, but let me know on what topic you want a detailed answer.

Oh...i think, Java Programming Language is too difficult for much more People. Also for me *lol* Windows Bot are better, than Mirc Script. Mirc Scripts there are too much One. Maybe new Viper install automatic with Proxy DLL. It's so easier to the People. Thanks J.J for the good Viper Bot. He is so Great. Greets
